Peoria, IL - Clinton LumberKings' INF/OF Vinnie Catricala was named the Midwest League's Offensive Player of the Week today in an announcement from the league office in Beloit, WI. Catricala is the first Clinton player to win the offensive award this season.
Catricala, 21, earned the award by hitting .467 (14-for-30) with five doubles, two home runs, eight runs scored and a league-high 10 RBI in nine games through August 29.
Seattle's 10th round pick out of the University of Hawaii in 2009, Catricala is hitting a team-best .306 with 39 doubles, 16 home runs, 87 runs scored and 77 RBI in 127 games with the LumberKings this season. He's amidst Midwest League leaders in runs scored (2nd), total bases (5th), RBI (5th), batting average (8th) and slugging percentage (8th).
